Rose and Mickey huddled in a corner of the main lodge, giggling into a couple of drinks that were similar to hot chocolate, but spicier, and flirting gently. They had found the old sparkle that had faded out in the drudgery of their lives, and their bickering over her affection for the Doctor had shone through again while they were here, it was the romance of the place. Rose found she was thinking more often about staying, the next time they went to the estate, and wondering if Mickey would like her to stay.
They heard a ripple of amusement go through the room, and looked up to see the Doctor and Jack step in. They were both looking like they planned on auditioning as snowmen, their clothes were coated in the stuff, and it glistening in the damp, messy spikes of Jack’s hair.
“I so do not want to know how they got in that state.” Mickey groaned. Rose grinned at him, and when the two came over with their own spiced chocolate drinks, she looked them up and down, raising an eyebrow.
“And what have you two been up to?” She asked, hearing Mickey almost choke on his drink.
“Snowball fight. Us two against about a dozen of the children that were out there. We lost.” The Doctor grinned.
“How did you end up in a snowball fight against a dozen kids?” Mickey asked, rolling his eyes internally as he heard the words coming out of his mouth.
“We were heading over here, they threw a snowball at us, we retaliated, and it kind of escalated.” Jack snickered, trying to finger comb his hair into some kind of order. His eyes were almost glowing with happiness, and his grin was genuine, not the fake, wide conman grin he had used when they first met.
“It will be a pity to leave tomorrow, we’ve had a great time here.” Rose smiled, leaning into Mickey. He grinned proudly, putting an arm around her.
“Hell yeah. Thanks for bringing us here, Doctor.” Mickey agreed.
“My pleasure, it has been nice, to have a break from all the running around and world saving.”
“Not that you two have seen much of the place, what with all the time you’ve been spending in your rooms. I didn’t think the rooms were that interesting, how have you been entertaining yourselves, all this time?” Rose teased. She was rewarding by the Doctor blushing scarlet, and hurriedly taking a sip of his drink to try to hide it.
“Oh, you know, kicking back, relaxing, not much of anything really.” Jack said smoothly, wrapping an arm around the still embarrassed Doctor.
“Yes, you looked very relaxed, having a nap in front of the fire the first night.” Mickey said without thinking about it.
“Yeah, but the view must have been good.” Jack shot back, completely unembarrassed. He was the only one though, the Doctor’s blush deepened, and he was joined by Rose and Mickey.
“Sorry.” Mickey muttered, and the Doctor cleared his throat, scratching his ear nervously.
“Right, well, anyway. Shall we get through to dinner, we don’t want to be late.” The Time Lord drained his mug and stood up, pulling Jack to his feet and leading the way to the dining room.

Jack and the Doctor lay twined together in bed that night, the blinds opened to allow the light of the moon and the starts to shine into the room, reflecting brightly off the snowy mountain outside the window.
“Do you think Mickey and Rose are going to get back together?” The Doctor asked, turning over and propping his chin on Jack’s shoulder so he could look down at the younger man.
“I don’t know, maybe. Why?”
“Just thinking, do you think she’d like us to invite Mickey to come with us in the TARDIS, or maybe she’d prefer to go home.”
“Rose isn’t ready to leave the TARDIS yet, she’ll stay for a little longer. Mickey might like it if you ask him along for a while though,” Jack said, without taking his eyes off the monochrome view through the window.
“Are you OK? You’ve been distracted tonight Jack.”
“Just thinking, its peaceful here, quiet. I can’t remember any time I wasn’t somewhere to do a job, or to con someone, or to fight in a war. I can’t remember any time I could just enjoy the scenery. I don’t want it to end.”
“You’re not having second thoughts about being with me on the TARDIS are you?”
“No, God no. I said I was yours until I died, and I meant it. I just……. I want to know there will be more peaceful moments, I guess.”
“I don’t exactly go looking for trouble Jack. I promise though, that we will have as many peaceful moments as we can get.” The Doctor assured him, leaning up to kiss him, shifting his weight over the younger man, they kissed lazily until sleep overtook them .
xx
Mickey sighed as the TARDIS launched into the vortex, leaving the pretty snow covered world behind them.
“I suppose this is it, back to Earth to drop me off, and you back off on your adventures.” He whispered unhappily to Rose.
“Yeah, kind of, I guess. I was thinking though Mickey, about what we were talking about in
“You mean it? Next time you come back to Earth, it will be to be with me?” He asked, his eyes lighting up.
“If you want me.” She repeated.
“Of course I want you.” He grinned.
“Hey Rickey.” The Doctor called from over by the console.
“What?” He asked, no longer bothering to correct his name, he knew the Doctor was doing it to wind him up.
“When he land, how long will it take you to grab some stuff and say bye to people?”
“What?”
“I said…..”
“Yeah, I heard what you said, I was actually hoping for a little more information.”
“What the Doctor meant to say, Rickey, is ‘Would you like to come along with us for a while? If so, when we land, how long would it take you to get some stuff together, and say cheerio to anyone who needed to know you were going’.” Jack cut over them, rolling his eyes at them.
“Seriously? I can come along?”
“That is what we said. So can your tiny human brain cope with the question?”
“Am I likely to get insulted the whole time?”
“Not the whole time, there will be times when you’re asleep.” The Doctor pointed out.
“And, you’ll be with me.” Rose added hopefully.
“Then, sure, I’d love to tag along for a while. It will take me a couple of hours to take care of stuff when we land.”
“Great, that means Rose will have time to gossip with her mother too, which should keep Jackie off our backs for a while.”
“This is brilliant.” Rose grinned, throwing her arms around Mickey’s neck. He grabbed her tightly and spun her around.
“So, next time we go to Earth, we go back together,” she whispered in his ear, and he could feel her smiling. Then she bounced away from him, going over to throw her arms around the Doctor and Jack for asking him along. He wondered what it would be like, adventuring with them.

Hopefully now that I have some momentum going, I might be able to get into the habit of frequent updates again, despite the fact I now only have internet access at work, and less freedom to fic there now. (Did I ever mention I hate my female aprent on occasion?)
Keep your eyes peeled.
