***

Ianto looked up as the Doctor came into the sitting room of the guest house, where  he was watching Raiko playing with toy cars on the rug, the child watching the stairs, waiting for Timmy to come down.

“I just heard from Owen,” he said.

“What’s wrong? Is there a problem, do we need to go back?” Ianto asked.

“Not so much a problem, no. It seems that PC Cooper has been irritating again.”

“We need to figure out how she’s going to be punished for this.” Ianto said, nodding his head slightly in the direction of Raiko.

“I think that we should wait until he is back to his adult self. He’s the one that she did this to, and he should have a say in what we do with her.”

“You must have some ideas.” Ianto smirked as the Doctor dropped onto the sofa beside him.

“Personally, I’d hypnotize her into telling everyone that aliens really have been on the Earth, and that they’re still coming. Then I’d watch as she was locked up in the funny factory.” The Doctor shrugged.

“I lean more toward slow torture with hot coals.” Ianto growled softly.

They stopped talking about it as Raiko got up and padded over to them.

//Come play,// he said, offering the Doctor one of the cars.

//Wouldn’t you rather come out and play on the beach?// The Doctor asked.

//Can Timmy come?//

//I don’t think that would be wise, with his sore foot. It would be bad if he got sand in it, and he couldn’t use his crutches on the beach.// Ianto told the boy.

Raiko looked torn, he wanted to go with Ianto and the Doctor to the beach, but he didn’t want to leave his friend with no one to play with.

Sally came in then, starting to look behind the cushions.

“Are you all right there?” Ianto asked her.

“Fine, thanks. We’re packing up to head home, and Timmy seems to have lost one of his homework books. It must be around somewhere.”

“You’re leaving today?”

“Yes, after lunch. He has to be back at school on Monday.”

“That’s a shame, Raiko will miss him. How about we take Timmy to the arcades this morning, so that the boys can have some fun, and it will keep Timmy out of your hair while you’re trying to pack.” Ianto offered.

“That would be great actually, he’s driving me batty up there. Thank you.”

//Raiko. Timmy is going home after lunch today, so we’re all going to go out before he goes.// The Doctor told the child when Ianto went off to help Timmy down the stairs.

//Going home?// Raiko pouted.

//Yes, he has to. He has to go back to school on Monday.//

//School?//

//Educational facility.//

//Ugh, boring.// Was the verdict on that. The Doctor smiled down at him, ruffling his hair.

//Come on, shoes,// he said.

Ianto brought Timmy down, and they headed for the arcades. Inside, Raiko was entranced by all the flashing lights and games.

//Pretty.// He breathed.

//So, what first?// The Doctor asked. Raiko shrugged, he had no idea what to do with any of this stuff.

“How about the radio controlled boats.” Ianto suggested.

“Brilliant.” Timmy grinned, he loved these places.

The Doctor kept a close eye on Raiko, making sure that he wasn’t overstressed by the flashing lights and loud noises, but he seemed to be filtering things out better now, growing used to all the weird things he saw on this planet. They found the radio controlled boats, and Raiko watched carefully as other people used the controls, and then when they managed to get on them, he easily controlled the boats, in a race with Timmy.

Timmy won, just, but Raiko didn’t mind, he was having fun.

They found the pinball machines, and Raiko found them laughably easy, with his reflexes he quickly obliterated the highest scores on half a dozen of the machines, so Ianto smirked, deciding to try him on the video games. There was one in the hub, but he had never ever seen Jack play it, he thought if he was any good on them here, then when they went back to the hub, before they turned Raiko back into Jack, he could get him to wipe out Owens much bragged about high score on the machine.

“What are you up to?” The Doctor asked Ianto as they fed money into the video games for the boys.

“You saw the machine in the hub?”

“Yes, and?”

“Owen is always bragging that no one can beat his score, so if Raiko proves to be as good on these as he was on the pinball, we can have him demolish Owens score before we turn him back to his grown up self.”

The Doctor rolled his eyes, but smiled at the human.

“You are evil, Ianto Jones.”

“I try my best.” He confirmed.

Raiko was good on the video games, trashing the high scores there too, and the Doctor caught Ianto smirking at the thought of winding Owen Harper up.

//Hungry now,// Raiko said, looking up at the Doctor as he turned away from the game controls. Ianto glanced at his watch, and the Doctor saw his brows go up.

“its lunchtime, we’d better get back or there won’t be time for Timmy to eat before they have to go for their train.”

“Oops. Let’s get a move on then.”

They got back to the house, where Timmy instantly started babbling to his mum about how much fun he had had, and how Raiko had beaten the high scores on all the machines.

“Thank you so much for taking him this morning.” Sally said over the babble.

“You’re more than welcome, they both had a lot of fun. Sorry we got him back late.”

“It’s not a problem, everything is ready to go, and Alistair said he’ll drive us to the station when Timmy has eaten.” She smiled, propelling the still chattering boy into the dining room.

Alistair came out of the kitchen, and smiled at the Doctor, who was watching Ianto and Raiko giggling together as they headed for the garage, and the TARDIS.

“You my friend, are smitten.” Alistair commented to his old friend.

“Hell yes, Ianto and Jack are the best things in my life for a long time.”

“No, with Raiko. Maybe you should think about children.”

“Not really a possibility, Alistair, I don’t think the adoption agencies on many worlds would consider our lifestyles appropriate, and when I leave, Ianto and Jack are coming with me.” The Doctor sighed, and Alistair felt guilty for a moment for bringing his mood down, but a beat later, the Doctor grinned brightly again.

“Things will work out, one way or another Alistair, the universe is like that.”

Alistair smiled again, watching the Doctor bounce off in the direction of the TARDIS after the other two. He thought the Doctor would make a wonderful father, and hopefully there would be a way at some point in the future where he would be.

It seems that PC Cooper has been irritating again Lmao!!!

I love the idea of little!Jack breaking Owen's high scores, that'll show him!!

From: [identity profile] amythest-n-ice.livejournal.com

Oh yes, I'll definitely have to remember to have Raiko wipe out the scores when they head back to the hub, by such a margin that Owen can never get to the top again preferably ;-)

yay!! another chapter!

thanks for sharing - do love the Doctor's interaction with Ianto and Raiko

can't wait for the next installment of this! :D

Glad you enjoyed it, I don't know if/when I will be able to post chapters to two different fics at one time again, but I will try to get back in the habit of updating faster.

The two I was writing off site are now done, sigh, head desk.

Yay! Another wonderful chapter! Made my day, epecially since I have to go to the Doctor's for my monthly check-up. To see a new part of the awesome story was great. You are in the top 3 of my favorite Doctor/Jack/Ianto writers. I can't wait to see how the punish Gwen! Down with GWEN! Evil woman! I love little Raiko, so cute! Hey and at least they can tell Jack a name now of his childhood. Eagerly awaiting the next part.

Really glad you enjoyed it, and that it came at the right time ;-))

Wow, really flattered that I am one of your favorites *blush, blush*

If you like Gwen punishments, I did a lovely one, over on antigwenallies, join us, read it, post your own *smirk*

I'm so glad I got caught up with this. It's such a lovely story. And I agree with Alistair - the Doctor would make a great father. As much as I want him and Ianto to get Jack back, a part of me hopes he stays little. So they can have a child.

Thanks so much for this.

From: [identity profile] amythest-n-ice.livejournal.com

Thank you, glad you're enjoying it. Ianto and the Doctor have to have their Jack back, but, um, who's to say they can't have it both ways. There is a certain theme that shows up in a number of my fics *nudge nudge*

Oh, I know! I truly love it that one of my fave genres (mpreg) is canon. I loved reading Spike/Xander mpreg, but it was hard to find.

btw - I started on the Eternity Verse last night and can't wait to get home and read more! It's taking everything I have not to go and read a chapter during lunch right now. But, I know that if I start, I won't want to stop!!

From: [identity profile] amythest-n-ice.livejournal.com

M/Preg is annoyingly hard to find, isn't it? Sigh.

I hope you enjoy the E-verse, that is one of my favorite series, and the first one too.

you my dear have the most perfect timing ever.

I've hada pretty crappy week (between the flu and having assignments where I don't even know what their asking let alone how to answer them. This is the first chance i've had to relax and finding you'd updated was just perfect. *hugs in thanks*

Just loved the bit about Owen and the game thing...can't wait to see Jack crush his score *hehehe...* also finding out what you've got in store for miss Cooper should be quite entertaining. *cackles evily*, it is going to be good right? right?!?!

this talk about kids, why do I have a feeling its gonna be relevant? (must admit that's one of my favourite lines of Jack's. never doing that again. just brilliant.)

Hope you update soon. Can't wait!

From: [identity profile] amythest-n-ice.livejournal.com

Hey, sorry to hear you've had a crap week, know how that goes! I'm very pleased that my updates came at an opportune moment;-))

Oh yes, the little Tyke is going to have to obliterate Owen's score, I know he's been nicer in this fic, but it's the principal of the thing *grin* and I'm still trying to entertain various notions of Gwen punishment, depending on my mood at the time, she doesn't always live, but that might be a TAD extreme, maybe, hmmmmm.

The talk of kids? Relevence? Hmmmm, I LOVE a pregnant Jack, don't you? ;-))

From: [identity profile] mrs-cj-harkness.livejournal.com

I've been waiting so long for an update - and I was disappointed :D

More soon(er) ;) Please? x

From: [identity profile] amythest-n-ice.livejournal.com

um, you were disappointed by the update, or the length of time you had to wait for it??

Not the former I hope, lol.

As my female parent has cut my broadband off, I brought my laptop home, so hopefully I can now write at home, and post when I am at work. This should speedup update times, I hope.

From: [identity profile] brienze.livejournal.com

Just read all of this in one go, and can't wait for the rest! I love seeing the Doctor and Ianto take care of Raiko, and am looking forward to what the relationship between the Doctor, Ianto, and Jack is like when Jack is back to himself.

This story also shows more clearly than most, just why a lot of people don't like Gwen (and not just cause she distracts from the slashy goodness).

From: [identity profile] amythest-n-ice.livejournal.com

Heee, love your icon, I adored those two in the muppets!!!

Glad you're enjoying it. It will be interseting to see how much if anything Jack remembers from being pint sized *smirk smirk*

Are you a Gwen hater too? If you are I can highly recommend joining the AGA.

From: [identity profile] brienze.livejournal.com

I don't hate Gwen... I just think she has some major character flaws that are glossed over in the show. Like, I don't hate Sara Sidle on CSI: Original Flavor, but she's too needy and co-dependant and emotionally manipulative to be in a relationship with anybody sane.

From: (Anonymous)

I love Raiko and wish that he could stay younger but not aging and Raiko being as smart as he is would not be happy. I do hope that when Jack gets back to normal that he does something evil to Gwen, and hoping that Jack gets pregnant so they can have a little one that they call love.

From: [identity profile] amythest-n-ice.livejournal.com

Really glad you're enjoying this :-))

Jack is already plotting Gwen's punishment, and she ain't likely to like it!

* and hoping that Jack gets pregnant so they can have a little one that they call love.* Have you been reading my mind?? lol.

From: (Anonymous)

I hope it is an evil plot for sticking her nose where it dont belong. As for reading your mind it just me wishing/hoping. I just wish that Gwen was never on Torchwood she is annoying and i can't stand her and i am hoping nothing comes up in season 2 with JAck and Gwen. Did i read somewhere that Jack is going to be on a few eps in season 4 of Doctor Who.

From: [identity profile] amythest-n-ice.livejournal.com

I think I saw a post somewhere saying there was going to be nothing between Jack and Gwen in S2, they are supposedly going to be deepening the relationship between Jack and Ianto, I think.

I saw a post about Jack being in DW S4 to, I really hope so!

From: (Anonymous)

Sweet I do like Ianto but he is so quite all the time. Well then lets hope for more screen time of Jack and the Doctor. So are there going to be any updates today on any of your stories.

From: (Anonymous)

Well then i have something to look forward to then. I also wanted to say that i look forward to your expanding your story the After the Dancing is Done, excellent start to it
