Disclaimer: Realistically speaking, if they were mine, Doctor Who would be on a sight later, and Jack and Ianto would never leave the Hub. The Doctor would also make a lot of guest appearances, in the bedroom.

Nine loved him from a distance, not realizing what his feelings were until it was far too late, and they had fallen in the battle for the game-station.

Ten found him again, and they loved with everything their battered and bruised hearts could spare, as they once more journeyed the stars together.

Eleven loved him with incandescent passion, blazing a trail through evil and dictators on many planets, making the universe a better place.

Twelve loved him with the slow burn of embers banked for the night so that the fire would not be extinguished, and would blaze anew at the slightest provocation.

Thirteen loved him as if each day would be their last, as one day it would be, as one day it was.

Even as he mourned for the loss of a love of centuries, Jack Harkness knew that he had been loved, never doubted it, never would.

Pretty. I especially like the description of Twelve's love for Jack. I just hope RTD comes up with some get-out-of-jail-free clause for the poor old Doctor. It can't end on thirteen o_O

find some way to make his last incarnation immortal too, so he and Jack can really truly have the eternity they deserve. I'm SURE the TARDIS would oblige.

Jesus Christ! I will seriously DIE if thirteen is no. finito. I can't survive without my Doctor.

All I can say is that if Ten Mark II is THE Other, then what does that make the Doctor?

I should tell you - I almost didn't read it, because when you said "don't be harsh" I thought it must not be very good! I'm really glad I did, though. I hope you keep writing, you have a terrific style!

fantastic story, really moving
ending was great because you know that it will, one day, be true.

sombering story, but sweet. Every once in a while I remember that if Jack is truly immortal and he was just pulling Ten and Martha's legs about the FoB then eventually what happens in "He Knew He Was Loved" would happen. For so long I've been used to the idea that the Doctor would outlive any human companion and thus when Immie!Jack was delivered I cheered for my pairing's good fortune. Thus I guess I let my subconcious let my concious keep forgetting that Jack could actually outlive the Doctor. Though that makes me wonder where future!Jack would be at the time of Utopia. But that makes my brain hurt trying to figure all the ramifications of time travel etc.

Glad you liked it :-)

If you take Ten retreiving Jack from my fic Reborn, it kind of sorts itself out, even though I didn't write it intending that. Jack at the end of the universe would make sure he was nowhere he could run into the Doctor and the others, so that there would be no temptation to change history and preventing him from becoming the face of Boe, who he had to be to reunite with the Doctor.
