Ianto looked at the small figure in the bed, and felt ill.
"There must be something we can do. He can't stay like this forever." Ianto's voice was choked, and he could feel tears pricking his eyes at the unfairness of it.
"We'll figure something out. I won't let him be trapped like this." The Doctor promised, wrapping his arms around the young human, and holding him tight. Ianto wrapped his arms around the Doctor's waist burying his face in the Doctor's shoulder.
"It isn't fair. That silly bitch does this to him, he might be stuck like this forever, and she just gets away with it." Ianto choked, and the Doctor rubbed his back soothingly.
"Oh, believe me Ianto, she won't get away with this. As soon as we get Jack back to normal, we'll all make sure she pays." The Doctor promised in a grim tone. He turned his head and kissed Ianto's neck.
"Come on, we should get some sleep. The TARDIS is making a room for him next to ours. It will only upset him if he wakes up alone in here." The Doctor picked Jack up as he spoke, cradling the slight form against his chest.
Ianto followed the Doctor along the corridors, and watched him enter a room next to the bedroom they all slept in when the Doctor came to Earth to see his lovers. Inside, the room was in soothing tones of blue, there were fluffy shapes lining a shelf, and the bed had soft covers.
"What are they these?" Ianto asked, picking up one of the fluffy shapes from the shelf as the Doctor gently tucked Raiko into the bed.
"The equivelent of teddy bears, from his planet." The Doctor smiled, taking it from Ianto and tucking it into Raiko's arms.
The Doctor led Ianto into the other room, and they stripped quietly, getting into bed. The Doctor pulled Ianto into his arms, and they curled together.
"It's odd without him here." Ianto whispered.
"Too odd?" The Doctor asked, tensing.
"No, God no. I've just gotten so used to his heat against my back. He's like lying with a furnace."
"Yeah." The Doctor agreed with a faint smile.
They managed to settle down to sleep, neither waking up again until the TARDIS alerted the Doctor that Raiko was awake.
"He's awake." The Doctor told Ianto as he shook him awake. They dressed quickly and hurried to the room next door.
Raiko was sitting up in the bed, fluffy toy clutched close to his chest, looking lost and scared.
//Good morning Raiko. How is your wrist feeling?//
//Not hurt now.//
//Good. Are you hungry? Ianto and I were about to prepare morning meal.//
A loud rumble from the child's stomach answered the question, and the Doctor smiled as the child blushed and ducked his head.
//It's nothing to be ashamed of Raiko. I know you didn't get much to eat yesterday. Come on, we'll find something tasty for you.//
The Doctor held his hand out and waited patiently until Raiko got out of bed and padded across the room to take it, tucking the toy under his still bandaged arm.
"We'll have to see about getting him some clothes. He can't stay confined inside the TARDIS all the time, and the hub frightens him," Ianto said thoughtfully.
"I'm sure the TARDIS will have something in the wardrobe room that will fit him for now. If Toshiko can't fix that device today, we'll take him shopping." The Doctor promised.
After they had fed themselves, and raided the wardrobe room for a little pair of jeans, jumper, and a tiny pair of shoes, they went out into the hub. The Doctor was carrying Raiko, who clung tightly to his neck.
Tosh was asleep, face down on her desk, the device in front of her, the scans she had taken flashing across the screen. It was obvious she had been there all night trying to figure out if she could repair the damage Gwen had done.
"Where is everyone?" Ianto asked after gently shaking Tosh awake. She looked at him blankly for a long moment while waiting for her brain to re-engage, then blinked and answered.
"Owen and Gwen went to check out some energy readings. Well, actually, that's what Gwen thinks. Owen took her out of the way because she was driving us batty doing that hand wringing constant whining apology she does every time she screws up. When it turns out to be nothing, he's going to ditch her."
"Ditch her how?" Ianto asked.
"Tell her to go home, that he'll call her if there's an emergency, but that with the Doctor here, he can ask him if there are any small problems."
"Uhm, if he thinks I'll let Raiko out of my sight, he can think again."
"Who? Oh, Jack, right. No, but Gwen is so self absorbed, she'll happily accept it as a chance to get a day off to spend with Rhys." Tosh rolled her eyes as she yawned.
"I'll make you some coffee," Ianto said.
"Thanks," Tosh said again, swallowing another yawn.
"How's it looking?" The Doctor asked, nodding to the device.
"Not brilliant. Some of the connectors can be resoldered, if I can get some gold to solder them with. The rest of it will take some creativity, and the odds are we will only get one chance at it. It will take me about a fortnight to jury rig it, and if it doesn't work first time, it will be nothing more than a pile of scrap circuits. The energy surge will slag it."
"Take your time then Toshiko, this is something we cannot afford to get wrong."
"So he is still immortal then? Owen thought he might be."
"Yes."
"I'll be careful." Tosh promised, taking the coffee Ianto handed her, and turning back to her task.

Just a short chapter, it's too hot, I'm too tired, but I couldn't leave you hanging.
I know about the hotness, I spent most of the evening yesterday outside and I'm nicely sunburnt now I've got red shoulders, back and neck! heehee but I'm glad you gave us this chapter, its what a fic author does, posts for their readers! *hands over a tub of ice cream* to keep you cool and to share with the doctor, ianto and raiko! heehee
Ooo how many chapters you got planned? And I am so sorry for rambling, I like this chapter, I really do! i'm gonna leave now!:P heehee Great work!

The name Raiko was random, but it does kind of suit him, maybe the TARDIS whispered it to me telepathically.
Sorry to hear you got sunburned, I managed that on the holiday monday, owie. The boys and I enjoyed the icecream very much, thank you. Raiko wasn't sure of course, they didn't have that on his planet, but the Doctor convinced him to give it a try, and there was no stopping him. *grin*
I don't know how many chapters there will be, but they have two weeks to kill. And you feel free to ramble all you want!

And I'm glad the little tyke enjoyed the ice cream, I suppose its a good job it wasn't full of E numbers, he would have ended up on a sugard high! And I got a whole freezer full, not to mention cookies for when it cools down you're quite welcome to raid that for treats!
And cool then I look forward to many more chapters! Keep up the good work:d
Can I ask, can we have a little more interactiong with the doctor and ianto cause I just love them two!

A little more Ianto/Doc interaction is entirely possible, they'll be taking on a challenge in the next chapter.
