Just rereading and realized that this:

The Doctor hadn’t been able to figure out what was causing the heightened energy levels in Jack this last couple of weeks, but the immortal didn’t seem too bothered by the puzzle, and the Doctor was now fairly sure that Jack knew what was going on.
