Sigh, redux

Ok, I have been gone for a week, and I had such plans for my time off work, I was going to produce new chapters for all of my fics, then my bloody mother managed to fuck with my head again, depressing me to the point where I didn't want to do anything other than watch CLASSIC TV.

She is leaving the rock, and going back to the UK, to be closer to my SISTER (Some of you may recall the holiday rant of a couple of months ago). This is mainly being done out of spite, because she didn't get her own way on me giving up my own flat and moving in permanantly with her so she could get a better flat. She opened my pay slip, she opened my bank statement, she treats me like crap when she comes in from work (and this is when I only spend a couple of days a week with her) and she wonders why I choose not to share a flat with her full time. Go figure.

This is happening before the end of this month, which means that at Christmas, I will either be all alone, or forced to spend time trapped with family members I DO NOT LIKE, who will only have invited me round out of a sense of duty/pity. I frankly don't know which option could be considered worse.

Anyway, back to the CLASSIC TV. I spent several hours watching, then screen capping, then iconning, The Tomorrow People. Do any of you remember that show? The origional that is, not the awful aussie version with that muppet from neighbours that turned up ten/fifteen years ago. I used to rush home from school once a week to feast my eyes on the telepathic, telekinetic, teleporting pretty people that were HomoSuperior. *grin* and I am so tempted to cross over the TP with DW/TW.

The previous post (Sigh) is the fruits of my depression (and admittedly slightly alcohol enhanced) creative labors, I hope you like them, and I aim to resume normal ficcing service just as soon as she is off this island, and no longer in a position to grate on my every last nerve by treating me as if I am in every way inferior to my sister and her heathen offspring, if not sooner. Please be patient just a little longer.

Aww, thank you.

Oh Honey!

She sounds like she should have a bucket of really cold water dumped on her or something.

Must admit I know someone like that (thankfully I'm not related to them so I can get away if I have to).

Hope you start feeling better soon. And don't worry to much about Xmas - its a month away!

Anyway ...*hugs*

Hope you feel better soon.

Thank you, I guess its really a little extreme to hope she falls overboard when they leave the island??

To be honest, if I wasn't saving to go to Birmingham in January to see *swoon* John Barrowman *Swoon* in panto, I would book myself a little break, as I am not working over xmas, but all in all, I think I would much rather see him. *grin*

...you know I think I'd do just about anything to see him too... *goes green with envy* ;D

Lucky you! hope you have fun in Birmingham! Make sure you tell us all about it!

*hugs*

My mum drives me mad, but at least we do get on. Most of the time. **hugs**

And yes, I do remember the Tomorrow People. I was a huge fan for years, right up until the original version went off air.

[identity profile] amythest-n-ice.livejournal.com 2007-11-16 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you. I think that my mum and I will probably always get on better when there is a big chunk of water, and 3/4 of the UK between us.

The dvds are worth getting, the audio commentaries on the first 8 or 9 adventures (up until PVC leaving) between PVC and NY are the funniest thing ever, bearing little resembelence to what is going on on the screen. You can actually HEAR when the bloke in charge gives up on trying to control the pair of them. It is SO funny to hear the former stars of the show trying to figure out what is going on in the story.

*hugs*

Why not spend Christmas with some friends? It's better than being alone. And ignore that evil woman, if she treats you like that then she's not worth the time or the hurt.

[identity profile] amythest-n-ice.livejournal.com 2007-11-16 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you.

I don't know about spending christmas with friends, I might just stay home and eat, drink and work my way through my dvds. I'll see when I get there.

As for her, I saw her once in the time between me moving here and here deciding to come over, so if I can keep up that record, I'll be happy.

Added you to my friends list.

*BIGhug* I'm sorry for all the turmoil you're going through with your mom. Thankfully you have stood up for yourself. I am aghast she opened your mail. Otherwise she sounds a lot like a friend from college years. We were able to realize we'd kill each other if we roomed together so we avoided that drama thankfully. So I am empathizing with you. If the Isle and Texas weren't so far away I'd be so welcoming you with open arms.

And I was introduced to the Tomorrow People when Nickleodeon premiered here in the States. I loved it so much. I even had a crush on Stephen. And I agree with you the NTP (New Tomorrow People) was so not as good. I was so thrilled last year when I got all of the original series on dvd from A&E. If some TP 'accidently" cross over into a DW story of yours I would be delighted I think.

Awww, thank you. She'll be gone on the 29th, so I just have to deal that long.

Ooooh, Stephen, yum indeed. I actually have some completed TP slash on disk somewhere, I might pop it on here if I can find the disk. The original characters, but all growed up, and a nice OC love interest for Stephen.

Okay, and the thing with opening the mail is ever so very wrong.
Haven't ever seen TP.

[identity profile] amythest-n-ice.livejournal.com 2007-11-16 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you.

She is so often in the wrong, except in her own little world. 13 more days until she is gone from the rock. Cest la vie.

You should see the tomorrow people if you can, it really is great fun. If you listen really closely, they snuck a Doctor Who joke in, in one of the eps.

Oh dear, your Mam really does sound as if she could be related to mine.

Take heart you have done the right thing by standing your ground, and you will find you will probably get on better with her, once you have a lot of distance between you.

As for Christmas, having a husband who was in the forces for years, I have spent more holidays on my own than I care to count. The tip for surviving it is to eat exactly what you want,(chocolate is good) have a liberal supply of alcohol on tap (Baileys or Malibu should suffice) and a stack on favourite DVDs to watch. (TP sounds ok, Torchwood would be even better). Just simply spoil yourself with self-indulgence for a couple of days.

Believe me, you will get through it, and you will feel more relaxed and pampered if you just stop worrying about a selfish Mam and sibling and go with what is 'special' for you.

[identity profile] amythest-n-ice.livejournal.com 2007-11-22 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you.

I shall indeed be laying in Jack Daniels, Bailys, and Bud, for my holiday entertainment. TP, TW and hopefully DW too, also, the Champions, which is seriously funny classic TV. I do plan on doing what I want, having complete autonomy over the TV and possibly 'accidentally' turning off all of my cell phones. I amy also consider getting some nice food in too, lol.

[identity profile] michael-the-car.livejournal.com 2007-11-22 09:31 am (UTC)(link)
The Champions? Now you're talking girl, I fell in love with Richard Barrett years ago... I yelled at the screen all the way through 'autokill' ... and how dare Craig beat up the boy, I just wanted to hug him better!

[identity profile] amythest-n-ice.livejournal.com 2007-11-22 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yes, the champions is total win, um, Craig Stirling fan though, unless I'm slashing Craig and Richard. X-)
