No not to slushy at all; I like to see 9 getting some happiness. I'm sure he used to get some I've just read too much 10 since then to remember it.
As for not being "TOO horrible", it must mean that you are going to play this allergy to the full. So either a major reaction and the doctor sweeping in at the last minute and saving him, or possibly a series of scares that gives the doc a nervous break down.
