Jack was in the nursery, watching his children sleeping when he felt a faint shudder under his feet. He left the nursery, making sure the door was firmly closed behind him, and headed for the console room, meeting Ianto and Terrell coming from the opposite direction, both looking sleep mussed and half awake, each wearing half of the others pajamas.

"What was that?" Ianto asked.

"I don't know yet." Jack shrugged preceding them into the console room.

Inside, the Doctor was leaning back against the railing, watching as lights blinked on and off randomly on the console.

"What's going on?" Jack asked.

"Rapid course change, sorry if anyone got bumped around," The Doctor said with a faint smile in his lover's direction.

"Why have we rapidly changed course?" Ianto asked, curious.

"The TARDIS picked up a signal, she answered it herself." The time lord shrugged.

"And this doesn't bother you?" Terrel squeaked in alarm, still not entirely used to dealing with a ship capable of thinking for itself. even after a year and a half on board.

"No, she usually knows what she's doing when she changes course on her own."

"OK, any idea when we're likely to land?" Ianto yawned.

"Not for a few hours yet. You and Terrell get some more sleep, Jack and I can stand watch."

"So where is this course change taking us?" Jack asked as the others went back to bed.

"Why don't you link up with her, and see if you can work it out for yourself? It will be good navigation practice for you." The Doctor kissed Jack lightly as he spoke and pushed him into the chair by the console.

Jack sank back into the chair, and leaned his head back, looking up at the arch of the ceiling, and allowing the other half of his nature to flow through him. It was getting easier every time, the Doctor noted, seeing how quickly Jack's eyes changed this time. His breathing slowed as he settled into his link with the TARDIS. The Doctor winced at the angle of Jack's neck, and looked up at the ceiling himself.

"Remind me to sort out a navigation couch for him." He told the TARDIS, and felt her assent as a light brush against his mind.

Jack felt his way along the course, his mind soaring as he worked his way around stars and planets.

"Earth," he murmured. The Doctor grinned, Jack had worked out their destination in under a minute.

"What time period?" He asked quietly, leaning close to Jack's ear.

Jack heard the question, and reached out for the time lines.

"20th century. 1960's."

"Perfect," The Doctor said, leaning in to kiss his lover's lips. He felt Jack's lips curve up into a smile under his, and pulled away slightly to look down at him. The feral eyes met his own, and lightning fast, Jack grabbed him, pulling the Doctor down into his lap.

"Come here often?" Jack purred, leaning forward and devouring his lover's lips in a passionate kiss.

The Doctor groaned when Jack broke the kiss, both of them panting slightly.

"Jack, no fair starting something we can't finish right now." He chided, reaching down to adjust his aching erection where it was confined by his clothing. Jack intercepted his hand and grinned slyly.

"As long as we don't leave the console room, what's stopping us?"

"Jack! Ianto and Terrell could walk in on us, or worse, the children." The Doctor squirmed as Jack's hand ghosted the bulge in his trousers, making Jack growl softly at the friction against his own arousal.

"They're all asleep, and the TARDIS will let us know if any of them step into the corridor," Jack whispered into the Doctor's ear, running his tongue over the outer shell, and sucking lightly on the lobe.

"Oh Rassilon." The Doctor groaned, twisting so he straddled Jack's lap and initiating a ravenous kiss of his own. He felt nimble fingers working the zip and button of his trousers, and reached between them to reciprocate, keeping his other hand tangled in Jack's soft, dark hair.

Released, their erections slid together, and their breaths caught. Resting their foreheads together they both watched Jack's big hand wrapping around them both. The Doctor whimpered, and thrust gently, rubbing them together is Jack's firm grip. Jack's other hand rested in the middle of the Doctor's back, making sure he was balanced as he thrust.

The Doctor pulled their mouths back together, swallowing Jack's whimper as he started to thrust them together harder. They came together, in a fluid rush, and as the aftershocks passed, the Doctor slumped forward onto Jack's heaving chest.

"Now we need to shower, and change." The Doctor snorted, looking ruefully down at their sticky groins, and the growing wet patches on their clothes.

"Do you want to go first?" Jack offered, stealing a light kiss.

"You sure?"

"Yeah, I'll check on the children, and start breakfast after my shower, so you go now."

The Doctor kissed him again, wriggling off his lap and tucking himself away as he headed for the door into the rest of the ship. Jack sorted out his own clothes, wincing a little at the cold wetness of his jeans.

As soon as the Doctor came back, his hair toweled into even more chaos than usual, Jack slipped away to take care of himself.

The TARDIS landed just as they were all finishing breakfast. They all headed for the console room to see what they could find out, Bobby and Kalen toddling along in front of Ianto and Terrell, following their parents as fast as their little legs would carry them.

"Not much going on," The Doctor said, turning on the screen and panning around the immediate area.

"Oh Bugger," He sighed as the screen panned across something big, blue and rectangular.

"Language!" Jack rebuked him, not wanting the children mimicking bad language, no matter how mild.

"There's another TARDIS out there," The Doctor said.

"What, belonging to someone else?" Ianto asked, confused.

"No, belonging to another version of me," he replied, pointing at the familiar shape on the screen.

"Thats not good," Jack said softly.

"As a rule, no. Ianto, Terrell, will you both stay here with the children, please. I need to know they'll be safe if the crew of that other TARDIS come in here for any reason."

"Of course." They both said in unison.

Jack and the Doctor stepped out of the TARDIS, looking around the room they were in, before looking at the other ship. The Doctor went over and rapped smartly at the door.

"Hello, anyone home?" He called cheerfully.

The door stayed firmly closed, and the Doctor reached into his pocket and pulled out his key, sliding it into the lock.

"Don't you change the locks once in a while?" Jack asked as the key turned easily.

"Yes, of course I do, every hundred years or so, but my key, or yours, will always work." The Doctor opened the door and they stepped inside.

"What happened to the decor?" Jack asked, looking at the white walls, white floor and white console.

"Hmm, earlier version of me, then. Have to watch what we say."

"How can you tell?"

"Because she was like this up until my seventh incarnation. When I regenerated into my eighth, she changed to the more gothic, organic appearance she has now."

"Why?"

"Not sure, maybe she just wanted a change. Ask her next time you link."

"I will, if I remember. So, where is HER Doctor?"

"Who knows. Come on, let's find out."

They left the TARDIS, making sure the door locked behind them, and found the door out of the room. Stepping out into the long white corridor, the Doctor frowned.

"UNIT," he said, recognizing the corridors.

"Um. I had dealings with UNIT in the 60's. They'll know me. "

"So, what they won't know is when I picked you up. Besides, I know you still carry retcon."

"OK, lay on MacDuff," Jack said, gesturing for his mate to lead the way.

"I thought you had dealings with UNIT."

"Yeah, on my turf or neutral ground. There was no way I was letting them get me in here. Torchwood was dodgy enough, and it was easier to cover my tracks with them, until record keeping improved anyway."

Hearing voices from behind a closed door, the Doctor listened for a moment and stepped inside.

"Hello Alistair."

"Who the blazes are you?" Brigadier Alistair Leithbridge-Stewart blustered, looking behind him, he saw another man and glared.

"What is the meaning of this, Captain Harkness?"

"This is the Doctor, the TARDIS was drawn in by some kind of signal."

"Rubbish, this is the Doctor here." Alistair gestured to a slim blond man with floppy hair and a pleasant, open expression. There was a surly looking young man with red hair sitting beside the Doctor.

"Hello Turlough, nice to see you," The Doctor said brightly, before looking at his earlier self with a deep frown.

"I cannot believe I ever dressed like that." He snorted.

"Better than some of the outfits I've seen, and don't be rude, even if it is to yourself." Jack prodded his lover into the room, rolling his eyes.

"What's going on?" Turlough asked.

"For some reason, another me has turned up. That usually means the TARDIS has decided one of us can't deal with a problem alone." The younger Doctor told his confused companion.

"So, what is the problem?" The older Doctor asked, bouncing over to sit beside the other him. Alistair stared at him, then looked to Jack, who shrugged.

"Please, Brigadier. You might as well carry on, we are here for a reason, even if we're not sure what it is yet," Jack said kindly.

"Very well. I will however be having a word with Torchwood about your turning up unauthorized."

"It would be better if you didn't. I don't think Torchwood would be too thrilled to know there were two of him around at this moment in time." The Doctor said firmly.

"What?"

"This Jack was taken from Earth after this date." The Doctor decided not to mention just how much after this date he had reclaimed his friend.

"I give up. Fine. We had not long started anyway. This is the village of Lowhampton, five miles from here. Two days ago, the villagers vanished," Alistair said, bringing the picture up again.

"How many of them?" Jack asked.

"All of them. The GPO man didn't turn up to collect the post from the main office in town. When they phoned his home to find out where he was, they got a busy signal, the local post master, the same thing. Wondering if there had been a robbery, they tried the local police station, the same thing. When they got nothing but busy signals all day, they sent a man out to check the post office. They didn't hear from him again. They called the police in town, who sent a car out. They were on the radio to one of the officers in the car, he had just called in, when the connection cut out, as if the man had just taken his finger off the switch. They failed to answer all subsequent attempts at communication. Then this was tossed in our laps. We sent out a five man team, heavily armed, with instructions to check in every fifteen minutes, and stay together. After the first two check-ins, we heard nothing more from them. That was when we sent out the signal for you Doctor. I must say, I only expected one of you."

"Well, you can never have too many of us Alistair." Ten said brightly.

"What is the plan of attack then?" Turlough asked.

"You're staying here. You're less durable than us time lords, and you have trouble running in Earth's atmosphere." Five told his companion, standing up and straighteing his coat.

"So he's staying here too, is he?" Turlough asked, annoyed, pointing at Jack.

"No. Jack is staying with me," The Doctor said firmly.

"So why should I stay here?" Turlough pouted.

"Because if he chooses to risk the life of his companion, that is his choice. I am not going to get someone else killed. Losing Adric was hard enough, I'm not doing it again," Five said quietly to his friend. Turlough stood up and looked his friend in the eye.

"I'm not any more anxious to see you get killed. The girls told me what a nightmare that was. If you go, I go," Turlough said with a stubborn set to his jaw.

"If you're sure." Five capitulated with a sigh.

"Yes."

"Now that's settled, who else are you sending Alistair?" Ten asked.

"Myself, and a half dozen men. They know the risk, and they volunteered."

"Good, then we should get moving. How much daylight to we have left?" Ten asked, glancing around the room for a window.

"Four hours, thirty six minutes," Jack said without thinking about it, the calculation from the time they landed simple even without linking to the TARDIS. The Doctor shot him a warning look, not wanting the others to know too much about Jack.

"Right, well the vehicles and the men will be ready in half an hour, if you need to get anything from your TARDISes," Alistair said with a sigh.

"I need to get some stuff from the armory." *And check on the children* Jack told his mate, switching to telepathy for the last.

"Armory?" Turlough asked, his ears pricking up.

"There is no armory on the TARDIS," Five said reprovingly.

"It's Jack's." Ten shrugged.

"Well, I want to get some sensors from my lab." Five said.

"We might as well head off together then, as the TARDISes are in the same room. Alistair, we'll see you in the garage in 30 minutes," Ten said brightly, bounding for the door with a manic grin before Alistair could answer.

The three jeeps drove into the deserted village at about 3pm, just as the sun was showing signs of going down in the winters sky. The Doctor noticed Jack shudder and press back in his seat, fingering the weight of his main blaster in his pocket.

"Jack?" He asked softly, ignoring the soldiers in the front seat.

"This place feels horrible. There is nothing alive here outside of these vehicles."

"We know that, its why we're here."

"No, love, NOTHING. No people, no animals, no insects and no birds. Nothing," Jack said, turning golden eyes on his mate,
